General Cleanliness Package Program
The General Cleanliness Package Program is designed to give the customer
maximum flexibility in auditing production control. The program package
contains sixty (60)
Ion Chromatography evaluations to be used by the
customer on any product they produce. The customer issues a single
purchase order for the cleanliness package in advance of the testing,
Foresite invoices for the total amount upon receipt of the first assembly
to test. Foresite will notify the customer when test sixty has been executed,
closing the package.
Examination of process performance is an effective tool used to
maintain control of a manufacturing operation, as well as demonstrate
ongoing compliance to specifications. By monitoring manufacturing
cleanliness during normal operation, the control limits can be checked
to ensure the process remains within the defined boundaries. By
having the open account established, the time required to provide
the analysis data to the customer is minimized. General cleanliness
evaluations can be conducted as part of a continuous improvement
program for ISO compliance.
The customer exercises the sixty- (60) evaluations within a pre-established
window (typically 90-120 days). Foresite conducts the analysis testing
defined at the time of quote, and returns product to the customer
with a Cleanliness Report indicating results of the test and a discussion
of concerns regarding contaminant levels or product reliability.
Ion Chromatography (IC) analysis is applied in the execution of
the General Cleanliness Package. By comparing IC results to data
recorded from the customers existing ROSE test system, a baseline
performance threshold can be established. This provides an ongoing
validation of performance via periodic sample checks of product.
IC is also a very effective tool when used to check the consistency
of incoming PCB cleanliness.
Foresite engages in consultation with each customer prior to any activity
to identify project goals, design an applicable test matrix, and
provide technical information derived from our experience and knowledge
of contamination effects on product reliability.
Foresite General Cleanliness Program Report Deliverables
- Account of samples sent, production lot record, date of analysis
- Identification of residues present - ionic data indicating type and amount
- Foresite cleanliness limit recommendation for each ionic species identified
- Foresite interpretation of data and conclusions from our technical team
- Foresite recommendations for any process optimizations
- Cleanliness report electronically sent to customer project contact
- Final hard copy report including all sixty assessment reports will be mailed upon closure
- Telephone support included for discussion of each assessment report
General Cleanliness Package Program requires an open Purchase Order to Foresite, invoiced with receipt of first assembly to test
Foresite Inc. General Cleanliness Package Program
To
provide the customer with the deliverables mentioned, evaluation samples
are produced as part of normal production operations. These
samples will be sent to Foresite for evaluation and reporting. Proper
handling of the
samples is critical to insure test samples are exposed only to
those contaminants resident in the process. To accurately represent
the daily activities of
the production facility, no special procedures or handling precautions
are to be taken. Shipping and packing instructions will be provided
to the customer
by Foresite.
The following protocol is required for
General Cleanliness Program:
Upon initiation of the program,
Foresite establishes an account for the customer. Assemblies sent to
Foresite are cataloged so that historical
references can be made. Each individual
Ion Chromatography (IC) test
executed counts against the account balance.
Customer selects and ships assemblies for analysis to Foresite, following
the packing and handling instructions provided by Foresite.
The following information must be provided to Foresite with each cleanliness
test:
- Notification to Foresite that samples have been sent (phone, fax, e-mail)
- Identification on outside of package (CLEANLINESS PROGRAM SAMPLES)
- Packing list identifying contents (assembly number) and P.O. reference
- Lot code information — customer coding previously defined
- Date these samples were manufactured (plant identification required)
- Process specific information (questionnaire provided by Foresite)
- flux(es) used in all steps of manufacture (reflow, wave, hand, rework)
- process sequences (sm, reflow, clean, wave, clean, hand, clean, etc.)
- cleaning protocol used (no-clean, water type, solvents, equipment)
- acceptability specification used at facility (IPC, Bellcore, Military)
Foresite will conduct the defined testing upon receipt of samples
- Time required for testing will be established at beginning of program
- Foresite personnel will observe all ESD handling requirements
- All product will be returned to customer designated contact
Foresite will issue an electronic General Cleanliness Program Report for each lot tested
- Contents of General Cleanliness Report identified at beginning of program
- Electronic report sent to customer designated contact via e-mail or fax
- Hard copy Final Report for all tests will be issued at closure of project
Customer specific information must be provided to Foresite at start of program:
- Contact name — responsible for all aspects of monitor program (builds/reports)
- Phone numbers (office, cell, pager, fax, e-mail)
- Customer shipping number (FedEx, UPS)
